Diet & Exercise Updates for Cancer Survivors

Activity Description

The purpose is to provide oncology professionals with an evidence-based update on current nutrition and physical activity recommendations for cancer survivors. We will review abstracts presented at ASCO related to this, American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) recommendations, the society of integrative oncology updates, and any NCCN guidelines updates. The goal is to make oncology professionals more aware of the recommendations to improve survivorship care to help reduce long term complications.

Learning Objectives

Pharmacists: 

1. Review updates for evidence from guidelines for evidence based dietary patterns and physical activity recommendations for cancer survivorship/prevention
2. Distinguish the impact of nutrition and physical activity interventions on cancer survivors
3. Apply individualized patient-centered recommendations for nutrition and physical activity given a patient case-based scenario
4. Discuss how to integrate the role of a multidisciplinary team into current practice recommendations for nutrition and physical activity for cancer survivors.

Pharmacy Technicians: 

1. Review updates from clinical guidelines on nutrition and physical activity in cancer survivorship and prevention, including evidence-based dietary patterns as well as physical activity recommendations.
2. Distinguish the impact of nutrition and physical activity interventions on cancer survivors
3. List individualized patient-centered recommendations for nutrition and physical activity given a patient case-based scenario
4. Discuss how to integrate the role of a multidisciplinary team in current practice for cancer survivors

Obtaining CE Credit
