Activity Description

The financial burden of cancer is a pervasive issue within the oncology community, significantly impacting patients’ quality of life, treatment adherence, and emotional well-being. This CE activity aims to examine the forthcoming changes to Medicare Part D, including the introduction of a $2,000 cap on out-of-pocket costs and the new Medicare Prescription Payment Program, commonly known as the Smoothing Program. Additionally, the presenters will explore the implications of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) changes related to oral oncolytics, such as potential price fluctuations, the implementation of the Smoothing Program, and policy regulations. Policy changes surrounding prior authorization, coding updates, and enhancements to step therapies, particularly in immunotherapies, will also be addressed.
