Activity Description
The educational purpose of this CE activity surrounds safety in the hazardous drug compounding area, as it pertains to compounding personnel. The activity will focus specifically on the different kinds of engineering controls that make up a hazardous drug cleanroom as well as pertinent environmental monitoring. The activity will also touch on the importance of cleaning and the products used specifically in the hazardous drug compounding setting.
CE Credit: 0.75 hour

Learning Objectives
- Summarize United States Pharmacopeia (USP) <800> and its importance in hazardous drug compounding.
- Outline the different kinds of engineering controls (primary, secondary, and supplementary) and their roles in keeping compounding personnel safe.
- Describe proper cleaning and environmental monitoring procedures, per USP <797> and USP <800>.
- Identify the differences in hazardous drug compounding areas in comparison to non-hazardous compounding areas.
