With podcast host, Ginger Blackmon, and featuring Pat Garcia-Gonzalez, Co-Founder and CEO of The Max Foundation.
What happens when a lifesaving cancer treatment exists—but a patient simply can’t access it because of where they live?
After losing her 17-year-old stepson, Max, to leukemia, Pat turned personal tragedy into a 25+ year mission to help patients around the world access innovative cancer treatments. Today, the Max Foundation works across dozens of countries to address the many barriers between patients and care—from diagnostics and medications to transportation, trained providers, and stigma.
Pat shares what the global cancer landscape looks like today, why disparities could grow as cancer treatments become more complex, how pharmaceutical and healthcare partnerships can expand access, and her vision for using technology to connect patients with the people who can help.
