This week, NCODA is proud to highlight the participation of its leaders and partners at the Asembia Specialty Pharmacy Summit in Las Vegas. As one of the industry’s premier gatherings for specialty pharmacy and oncology stakeholders, Asembia offers an important platform for advancing innovation, collaboration, and patient-centered care.
NCODA will be represented through an expert-led education session titled “Medically Integrated Oncology Care: Evolving Approaches to Patient-Centered Care.” This timely discussion brings together leaders across oncology pharmacy and practice management to explore how medically integrated models are transforming care delivery and improving outcomes for patients with cancer.
The session will focus on the growing evidence supporting the integration of pharmacy services directly within oncology practices. Medically integrated oncology care places pharmacists as essential members of the care team, working alongside providers in real time to support treatment decisions, medication access, and adherence.
Research continues to demonstrate the value of this approach. Integrated oncology-pharmacy models are associated with increased treatment adherence, reduced hospitalizations related to treatment toxicity, and improved patient satisfaction. This model also enables earlier identification of adverse events, better supportive care management, and measurable reductions in total cost of care. As oncology continues to move toward value-based care, these outcomes are increasingly important.
The session will feature a distinguished panel of experts:
- Meg Butler, PharmD, Clearview Cancer Institute, NCODA Executive Council Member
- Wafa Samara, PharmD, City of Hope, NCODA Executive Council Member
- Jonas Congelli, RPh, NCODA
- Chris Wixon, Aveo Oncology
Together, these panelists will share real-world insights into how integrated care models are being implemented across diverse practice settings. Their discussion will highlight both the clinical benefits and the operational considerations needed for successful adoption.
At the center of this session is a commitment to improving the patient experience. By embedding pharmacy services within the oncology care team, practices can remove barriers, streamline communication, and provide more coordinated support throughout the treatment journey. Patients benefit from faster access to medications, clearer guidance, and more consistent monitoring.
NCODA is proud to contribute to this important conversation at Asembia and to continue advancing patient-centered, high-quality cancer care through medically integrated models.
