Activity Description

The purpose of this CE activity is to equip pharmacy technicians and pharmacists with the necessary knowledge and tools to help patients access and afford their cancer medications. The goal is to improve the ability of pharmacy technicians and pharmacists to educate and support patients, ensuring comprehensive care that extends beyond financial assistance. Through a panel discussion, participants will gain valuable insights into effectively utilizing foundation and grant resources to enhance patient outcomes and overall well-being.

Learning Objectives

  1. Outline core patient assistance services, including specialized funding programs and social work support, to enhance access to care and improve patient outcomes.
  2. Review comprehensive educational strategies for patients and pharmacy technicians including navigating clinical trial opportunities, managing medical debt, and offering support throughout the appeals process to ensure access to necessary treatments.
  3. Discuss the impact of Medicare 2025 policy changes on patient access to medication expenditures, including commercially insured patients.
