OPTA Meeting April 2026

Date: May 13, 2026 | 3:00 PM

This month, our Oncology Pharmacy Technician Community will focus on a workflow that shows up more and more in practice: clear bagging.

Understanding how medications move through clear, white, and brown bagging models—and what that means for your day-to-day work—can make a real difference in coordination, efficiency, and patient care.

In this session, Aaron Ginsberg, PharmD (Scripps Health), will walk through how clear bagging impacts technician workflows, where challenges tend to come up, and how to navigate them in real-world settings.

What we’ll cover:

  • Key components of a CBC and why they matter in oncology care
  • Normal vs. abnormal values and identify thresholds that may impact oral oncolytic therapy
  • How CBC trends can influence delays, dose adjustments, or supportive care
  • Common CBC patterns you may see in day-to-day oncology practice
  • Know when and how to communicate lab-related findings to the pharmacist or oncology team based on workflow processes
