Our Mission and Vision
The Mission of the NCODA Nursing Community is to inspire nurses caring for individuals with cancer, to share ideas, collaborate inter-professionally, and promote quality standards and best practices. Our vision is for all oncology nurses to be recognized as valued members of the medically integrated care team. We will achieve this through innovation of resources that empower all oncology nurses to provide the best care possible so that every patient receives the maximum benefit from their treatment.

Oral Anticancer Medications Care Compass
Caring for individuals taking oral anticancer medications (OAMs) presents unique challenges for both patients and healthcare professionals. Successfully navigating these complexities requires a proactive, collaborative approach that bridges gaps in care, and supports patients throughout their cancer treatment journey.
Through an interprofessional effort, ONS and NCODA have developed resources to assist practices in navigating the care of patients taking OAMs. The OAM Care Compass is a comprehensive collection of tools designed to help practices analyze their processes, design effective workflows, enhance patient education, and improve outcomes through standardized, high-quality care.
Access Care CompassClinical Oncology Tools For Patient Care
NCODA empowers oncology nurses around the world with tools and resources that help provide better patient care and advance the value of the oncology nurse’s role in all practices. Through innovation and collaboration, we provide patient-centered resources to healthcare professionals across the world.
At NCODA, we recognize oncology nurses are an essential part of the medically integrated oncology healthcare team and are committed to equipping them with the tools and resources necessary to deliver exceptional patient care.
This customizable template is given to patients before starting OAM to explain the treatment process and set expectations. It includes key terms, such as specialty pharmacy and benefits investigation, and outlines the importance of timely communication.
This step-by-step checklist helps nurses organize key tasks when initiating a patient on oral anticancer medication (OAM). It ensures all essential actions are completed at the start of therapy for a smooth and coordinated treatment process.
The Plan of Care Treatment Guide is a patient education template completed by the nurse during the initial formal education session. It includes drug specific administration details, essential contact numbers, and plans for monitoring and patient follow-up visits.
This template supports clinicians in identifying potential barriers to adherence before the patient begins OAM. It can be used to guide assessments and develop documentation flowsheets within your practice’s EHR system.
The OAM Tracking Forms are designed to help monitor patients from the initial prescription order through medication dispensing and treatment initiation. They support tracking patients across the full course of OAM therapy, starting from the first day of treatment.
This template includes key criteria for OAM follow-up assessments focused on adherence and toxicity, and features a CTCAE grading scale for common adverse events. It can be downloaded, edited, and integrated into your practice’s EHR system.
