[CAZENOVIA, NY – March 30, 2023]NCODA University, a division of NCODA that provides top-tier education for future and present oncology pharmacists, has launched a new 15-hour Oncology Basics Course. This first-of-its-kind course will reinforce knowledge of the etiology and pathophysiology of cancer, provide a deeper understanding of commonly used anti-cancer drug classes, and review the management of side effects and toxicities, as well as other clinical pearls.

The program was initially developed based on an identified need within college of pharmacy curriculums. “While working with our Professional Student Organizations over the past few years, we’ve repeatedly been asked for education related to oncology pharmacy for students who would like to learn more than what is provided through their pharmacy school,” said Julianne Darling, PharmD, BCOP, Manager of Education with NCODA. “When NCODA University launched last summer, we committed to prioritizing the educational needs of oncology trainees and immediately began working toward the development of the Oncology Basics Course. We hope this gives students and new oncology practitioners an additional opportunity to learn crucial pharmacotherapy concepts.”

Through intricate work, collaboration, and dedication between Task Force members, highly-skilled faculty presenters, and the NCODA University staff, the Oncology Basics Course was developed. The course includes 12 on-demand video class sessions with instruction by the following course development instructors:
